North Valley Bike Park Update

The new bike park in the North Valley, located at the old BMX track location at 2nd and Alameda, is underway. 

We just received the following email requesting input and feedback on the design. If you have any opinions about what you would like to see at a city funded, public bike playground, now is your chance. Read the following please....

Dear North Valley Bike Park Supporter:

You are receiving this email because you either participated at the January 27^th kick-off meeting for the North Valley Bike Park or you contacted me directly about the bike park.  The purpose of this email is to let you know that Hilride Progression Development Group has developed a 50% concept plan for the bike park based on your input.  Now we want to hear from you:

1)      You can download/ view a PDF copy of the plan and supplemental information at Bernalillo County Parks and Recreation’s (BCPR) website www.bernco.gov/fun and email your comments directly to me at gpbrodehl@bernco.gov or leave comments on BCPR’s Facebook page (facebook.com/bernco.BCPR).  If you don’t already have it, you’ll need a free copy of Adobe Reader to view PDFs (http://get.adobe.com/reader/). 

2)      Laminated copies of the 24”x36” plan will be available for viewing at the Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center (9800 4^th St. NW; open M-F, 8:30am-9:00pm) and at Bikeworks Albuquerque (2839 Carlisle Blvd. NE; open Tues.-Sat., 10:00am-6:00pm).   11”x 17” copies will also be available at each location for you to take with you.  Feel free to drop by either location, view the plan and leave comments on comment sheets provided by BCPR.     

While I haven’t attached the plan to this email (it’s a 2MB PDF), I can certainly email it to you directly if you reply to me requesting such.  

Please provide comment no later than Tuesday, March 8, 2011.  After that date, a technical team comprised of Bernalillo County Parks and Recreation staff, Bernalillo County Risk Management staff and local rider and bike park advocate Tony Gradillas, will compile the comments and provide direction to Hilride in early March.  Hilride will then provide a more detailed draft to us in late March/early April for a final round of review.

Three Cheers for our boys at 24 Hours In the Old Pueblo

Friends, cohorts, and Bikeworks racers Alex Leonard and Marc Basiliere made an impressive showing in Arizona this weekend, taking 3rd place in mens duo at 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo.

From the brief reports that I've received, the weather was lousy. Very high winds to start, followed by some rain, then a nice and cold night. Our boys put in 18 laps, racing under the team name "Evil Gazebo."

I'm hoping to acquire some awesome pics of them in action, and of course looking suave and de-boner up on the podium with some classy (and stinky) Bikeworks jerseys.
